2012 HEFFE’FILM’IN

This year we’re doing a little something different with HEFFE’FILM’IN, which if you don’t know, is the monthly screening the SLCFF does in conjunction with BREWVIES Cinema Pub (677 S. 200 W., 21+) in Salt Lake City. It’s the first Wednesday of each month at 8PM.

After spending 2011 with forgotten classics and little known gems, we decided to switch gears for 2012 and focus on some of the great directors of our time, starting tonight, February 1, with the great Woody Allen.

Tonight we’re showing ANNIE HALL. The film starts at 8PM and is completely free. BREWVIES is a one-of-a-kind place in Salt Lake City, offering a full restaurant and bar to choose from and everything is welcome in the theater with you. So feel free to grab a burger and a cocktail and head in to watch the film.

The rest of the 2012 HEFFE’FILM’IN schedule looks a little something like this:

  • March - Paul Thomas Anderson
  • April - Terry Gilliam
  • May - Spike Jonze
  • June - Quentin Tarantino
  • July - The Coen Brothers
  • August - Danny Boyle
  • September - Martin Scorsese
  • October - Roman Polanski
  • November - Stanley Kubrick
  • December - Rob Reiner

We’re keeping the actual films under wraps for now, but feel free to start speculating and we’ll see you the first Wednesday of every month!

WANT TO WORK FOR THE SALT LAKE CITY FILM FESTIVAL?

The SLCFF is back in full swing for 2012, but we’re going to need your help.

We’re looking for dedicated, hard working interns to help make this year’s festival as successful as we possibly can. Internships are unpaid positions, but as we position ourselves for the future, it’s very possible that somewhere down the line these could lead to a part time or even full time job with the Salt Lake City Film Festival.

We’re looking for people to fill the following positions.

  • Programmers - If you love watching films and have a good idea for what makes a good, unique feature or short, please contact Chris Bradshaw. chris@slcff.com
  • Grant Writers - The SLCFF is in its first year as a non-profit organization, which means we’re in need of talented and knowledgeable Grant Writers to help us raise the necessary funds for our festival. Contact Miah for info. Miah@slcff.com
  • Web Master - We’re looking to make our website a useful, fun site to visit year-round, not just the two weeks leading up to and during the actual festival. If you would like to help make that happen, contact Matt. Matt@slcff.com
  • Promotional/Marketing - We’re looking for people with computer design skills that are able to help us spread word of SLCFF events both physically and throughout the web. Contact Scott for more info. Scott@slcff.com

Now is your chance to get in on the ground floor of the Salt Lake City Film Festival. We’re looking forward to hearing from you.

SLUG REVIEWS THE 2010 SLCFF

The Salt Lake City Film Festival accepts films from around the globe and brings them to SLC for one weekend in August. This year’s festival was held August 18-21 at the Tower Theater, Broadway Center Theater, Post Theater and Brewvies Cinema Pub. Organized by a small crew of regular guys and gals from around our town, there’s an incredibly warm, inviting feel to the festival that visitors have found to be a contrast from festivals like Sundance. In years past, documentary films like Best Worst Movie, Cleanflix, American Jihadist, and Sons of a Gun have helped the festival to gain a reputation as an abnormally doc-heavy fest, while still bringing narrative films from newer filmmakers of the highest caliber. The SLCFF also gives directors of short films an opportunity to submit their work, and shorts were scheduled to precede each full-length screening. This year’s program kept with the themes while providing a laid-back atmosphere and plenty of after parties to mingle at.
